The fourth and final evening of the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amFAR) was an intimate gathering held in honor of the late Elizabeth Taylor’s legacy of AIDS activism. A star-studded affair, it was held at the Cohen Media Group’s Quad Cinema in New York City and hosted by Dame Elizabeth Taylor’s son, Christopher Wilding.
The night began with a special presentation featuring highlights of Taylor’s inspiring legacy in the fight against AIDS. Her style, wit, and heartfelt words left the audience in awe of what she achieved in her lifetime. This led to a moving clip of her iconic speech from amFAR’s 1990 Life Ball in Vienna. The strong emotion of the night was apparent when Wilding read a heartfelt letter, sent to amFAR by Taylor’s granddaughter.
The program also included a panel discussion moderated by amFAR’s Chairman of the Board, Kenneth Cole. Panelists included amFAR CEO Kevin Frost, Board Member Sharon Stone, Director and Screenwriter Roland Emmerich, and designer Zac Posen. Together, they discussed their work in the fight against AIDS and Taylor’s unwavering commitment to the cause.
