JID Is Officially Dropping “WRK” This Friday

After premiering the song at Dreamville Festival just two weeks back, JID is readying to officially drop his new single “WRK.”

The rapper took to Instagram to reveal that he’ll be dropping the track – which marks his first studio offering since September 2023’s Blakkboyz present Half Doin Dope/Van Gogh two-pack with Lil Yachty – this Friday, April 18, on all streaming services.

He shared the below video (followed up by the confirmed cover art) for the cut, which seems to usher in the start of a new JID era. “Starting this new journey coming off The Forever Story has been a very strange, productive yet tedious process,” he wrote in the video.

“I remember not feeling like I got what I think I deserved after that album came out and it sent me into a dark place (for maybe 20 mins cus I ain’t no b*tch). Fast forward to Pluss playing this beat for me in the studio and all I could hear was my OG coach saying ‘Let’s go to WORK.’ I live my life by the saying ‘You can only control what you can control.’ So this is the first step into a new world that I control. And. It’s. F*cking. UGLY.”

“WRK” not only marks the first JID track in almost two years but also the first solo JID track since the rapper unveiled his acclaimed 2022 album The Forever Story.

Check back in when “WRK” drops on all DSPs this Friday, April 18.
