Hermès Unveils the Slim d’Hermès Quantième Perpétuel in Rose Gold

Summary

  • Hermès unveils Slim d’Hermès Quantième Perpétuel in 39.5mm rose gold with a minimalist design
  • It runs on the ultra-thin H1950 manufacture movement and features a perpetual calendar, GMT, moonphase and 48‑hour reserve

The new Hermès Slim d’Hermès Quantième Perpétuel presents a sophisticated evolution of the brand’s minimalist horological philosophy, pairing the slender elegance of its signature collection with one of watchmaking’s most demanding complications. Designed originally by Philippe Delhotal in 2015, the Slim d’Hermès line is celebrated for its return to fundamentals, characterized by purity and lightness. This latest iteration is housed in a 39.5 mm rose gold case, offering an understated exterior that contrasts beautifully with the technical complexity within.

The visual identity of the watch is defined by a distinctively rhythmic dial, featuring the collection’s custom typography created by graphic designer Philippe Apeloig. The galvanic brown center of the dial plays with light and is punctuated by gilded baton-style hands, while four counters display the perpetual calendar’s intricate functions: date, month, leap year and a mother-of-pearl moonphase set against an aventurine sky. A second time zone (GMT) with a day/night indicator further enhances its utility for the modern traveler. The purity of the sandblasted, snailed and sunburst finishes accentuates the depth and legibility of these indications without compromising the watch’s pared-down aesthetic.

At its mechanical heart, the timepiece is powered by the ultra-thin Manufacture Hermès H1950 movement, a self-winding caliber crafted in Switzerland. Despite measuring just 9.06 mm in total thickness (with the movement itself being a mere 2.6 mm plus a 1.4 mm module), it houses a robust perpetual calendar mechanism that automatically adjusts for month lengths and leap years.

Visible through the sapphire crystal case-back, the movement showcases meticulous hand-finishing, including hand-chamfered bridges adorned with a signature “sprinkling of Hs”. The watch is completed with a Havana alligator strap, underscoring Hermès’ renowned expertise in leather craftsmanship.
