Baltic and SpaceOne have bridged their contrasting horological philosophies – vintage heritage and futuristic deconstruction – to unveil the Seconde Majeure, a collaborative timepiece born from a five-year friendship between founders Etienne Malec, Guillaume Laidet and Théo Auffret.

Moving away from simply housing an existing module in a standard case, the partners developed an entirely new 38.5mm design in 904L stainless steel. The case features a polished concave bezel and arched, low-hanging lugs designed to sit naturally on the wrist, complemented by a beige Alcantara strap crafted by Delugs.

The timepiece centers on a kinematic, deconstructed time display powered by a jumping-hour module developed by brilliant watchmaker Théo Auffret. Time is read via a decentralized sapphire discs, with hours at 12 o’clock and minutes at 6 o’clock, while a large central “Seconde Majeure” hand provides constant motion above the seemingly still composition. The dial is cut from a single piece of maillechort and is available in two distinct finishes: a classic brushed version and a “Charbonné” signature technique performed by hand in Auffret’s atelier. Underneath this module lies the Soprod P024 automatic movement, offering a 42-hour power reserve.

The Seconde Majeure will be available for a six-day pre-order window through Baltic Watches and SpaceOne’s websites. running from May 12 – 17, 2026, with deliveries beginning in November. The brushed dial version is priced at €2,500 EUR (approx. $2,695 USD), while the hand-finished Charbonné version retails for €3,500 EUR (approx. $3,775 USD), excluding taxes.
