Galerie OM has opened its doors in Berlin with the inaugural exhibition Partie Une, establishing itself as a new platform for collectible design. Founded by Moana Thies and Oscar Gröne, with creative direction by Julian Zacharias Eide, the gallery is conceived as a commission-based space rather than a traditional inventory-driven model. The vision is to create immersive environments where design is experienced socially, incorporating elements such as sound, scent and hospitality to frame objects within a broader cultural atmosphere.
The inaugural exhibition, titled Partie Une, elegantly brings this curatorial philosophy to life by spanning nearly a century of international design perspectives. Renowned modernist and 20th-century masterpieces by figures such as Pierre Chareau, Jean Prouvé, Jean Royère and Ettore Sottsass sit in immediate proximity to contemporary works by Caroline Keslassy, Martin Margiela and Fabio Novembre.
By deliberately avoiding chronological separation, Partie Une allows the pieces to speak across generations through a shared refusal to be purely decorative, highlighting material honesty, emotional resonance and an unyielding structural attitude. The showcase also features emerging practitioners, including Marten H. Anderson, Lorène Cavagna and Alex Joncas, reinforcing the gallery’s commitment to supporting new creative voices.
Rather than establishing a traditional, detached “white cube” gallery, the founders intended the environment surrounding the works to become an integral part of the exhibition itself. Partie Une unfolds as a deeply immersive, sensory narrative heavily inspired by the darker, rawer creative identity of Berlin and 1970s interior styling.
