The First ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Trailer Unveils Robert Downey Jr.’s Masked Doctor Doom

Disney releases the first official footage detailing the upcoming superhero ensemble film

Robert Downey Jr. makes his heavily anticipated debut wearing the iconic villainous mask

Chris Evans surprises Chris Hemsworth in a scene that showcases the returning hero lifting Thor’s hammer

Marvel Studios and Disney have officially released the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, offering audiences a definitive look at the highly anticipated blockbuster. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the cinematic preview sets the stage for a massive multiversal conflict.

The newly released trailer, which originally debuted at CinemaCon in April, explicitly highlights Robert Downey Jr. in his new role as the masked antagonist Victor von Doom. Shifting away from his legacy as Iron Man, Downey’s appearance marks a dark pivot for the franchise. The footage includes an ominous warning from Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, who commands his fellow heroes to put aside their petty squabbles in the face of an unprecedented threat.

In a major narrative twist shown in the footage, Chris Evans makes a surprising appearance alongside Hemsworth. The trailer captures a moment where Evans grabs Thor’s hammer, prompting an astonished reaction from the God of Thunder. This scene follows previous teasers that featured glimpses of Letitia Wright’s Black Panther and James Marsden’s Cyclops, building on the studio’s extensive history of massive character crossover. Downey previously made a brief, unmasked cameo in last year’s Fantastic Four: First Steps, but this trailer provides the first look at his complete villainous transformation.
