Screenwriter Paul Tomalin will adapt the series with Tom Shankland attached to direct
Prime Video has officially greenlit a six-part limited series adaptation of Stephen King’s 1980 horror story, Crouch End. The project stands as the author’s solitary story set in London and represents the first King screen adaptation to be produced in the U.K.
Originally published in New Tales of the Cthulhu Mythos and later featured in King’s Nightmares & Dreamscapes collection, the story serves as an explicit homage to H.P. Lovecraft. The narrative centers on global movie star Doris Freeman, who enters a London police station reporting the surreal disappearance of her husband, forcing police inspector Ted Vetter to investigate whether supernatural forces are involved.
The series is adapted by writer Paul Tomalin (Bodies) and directed by Tom Shankland (The Serpent). Production is handled by Mammoth Screen alongside Fifth Season, with Tomalin, Shankland, Damien Timmer, Rebecca Keane, and Ben Irving serving as executive producers. Casting for the series is currently underway.
