JBL pivots from party speakers to the premium whole-home audio market with the newly announced Cove series

JBL is shifting its sonic footprint, pivoting from portable Bluetooth devices and outdoor party speakers to the premium multi-room audio market. The audio giant announced the Cove series, a lineup of Wi-Fi speakers engineered specifically for whole-home audio. This launch represents a major evolution for the brand, positioning JBL as a direct alternative for whole-home audio systems. Instead of outfitting a single room or a backyard, the brand now aims to wire the house itself.
Connectivity and scalability sit at the core of this new acoustic ecosystem. The Cove series is driven via Wi-Fi and managed through the JBL One app, allowing users to pair units for synchronized multi-room listening. It operates as a modular system where buyers are not locked into purchasing expensive bundles upfront. Instead, users can purchase individual speakers as needed to expand the setup over time.
Three distinct models kick off the product line. The standard Cove M1 features three tweeters, a single woofer and built-in AI sound boost technology for $230 USD. For those who want high-end audio that moves around the house, the Cove P1 costs $400 USD. This portable speaker delivers up to 14 hours of playback per charge while featuring full Dolby Atmos integration.
At the top of the roster is the flagship Cove X1, designed for maximum acoustic impact. Priced at $450 USD, this powerhouse is loaded with four tweeters and two woofers to deliver room-filling audio via Dolby Atmos. Beyond standalone music playback, the entire lineup offers versatility for cinephiles. The Cove series integrates with compatible soundbars, allowing the Wi-Fi units to act as dedicated rear speakers for a home theater.
All three speakers feature a monochromatic black or white finish to maintain a clean aesthetic. The entire Cove series is slated to drop globally starting September 13.
