Miu Miu and New Balance have reshaped the 530 SL, the sneaker at the center of the two brands’ collaboration, into a ballet flat. The house frames the design as a meeting of the 530 SL’s athletic build and the softer lines of a ballerina, and releases it in two treatments: a “White” deco’ leather and a “Cinnamon” délavé suede.

The construction is where the sneaker DNA survives the transfer. Rather than swap in a clean slipper, the flat keeps a laced upper up top, retaining the closure and profile of the running shoe it descends from. Underfoot sits a rubber sole carrying New Balance branding, and inside is a removable fabric-covered insole, a detail lifted straight from performance footwear. Miu Miu screen-prints logo hits in three places, on the upper, the heel collar and the insole, so the branding reads across the shoe without any hardware. Both pairs are built on a calfskin base, with the finish doing the differentiating: the “White” leans on deco’ leather that the house ties to a worn, vintage character, while the “Cinnamon” uses a washed délavé suede for a faded, tonal brown.

The launch also slots into a lineage Miu Miu has been building for years. Under Miuccia Prada, the label has spent multiple seasons pushing the ballet flat back to the front of the fashion conversation, treating it as one of its defining silhouettes. The New Balance partnership, meanwhile, has run across several drops that filter the sportswear brand’s runners through Miu Miu’s codes. Turning the 530 SL into a flat folds those two threads together, taking the collaboration’s signature sneaker and rebuilding it in the shape the house is best known for reviving.
