Seiko’s Presage Classic “Shiracha” Draws Aesthetic Cues From Luscious Japanese Silk

Summary

  • Seiko’s limited-edition Presage Classic “Shiracha” is now available for pre-order
  • It features a smoky, textured dial inspired by Japanese silk
  • It’s also the first in the series to come with a brown calf-leather strap crafted from upcycled luxury shoe offcuts

In a tribute to Japanese aesthetics and traditional craftsmanship, Seiko welcomes a new Presage Classic limited-edition timepiece, dubbed “Shiracha.”

Measuring 40.2mm in case diameter, the reference boasts a smoky, gradated “Shiracha” colored dial. The shade, once favored during the Edo period, bears a finely textured finish inspired by soft Japanese silk. Meanwhile, its domed dial, curved hands and indices, and bronze-colored plated case with knurled edges and super-hard coating marry vintage appeal with modern durability.

This timepiece also marks the Classic Series’ first incorporation of a brown calf-leather strap, crafted from ethically sourced, upcycled luxury shoe offcuts and lined with the original premium shoe lining. Inside, Seiko’s in-house 6R55 caliber guarantees daily accuracy of –15/+25 seconds, complete with a 72-hour power reserve.

Presented in a numbered edition box, the Seiko Presage Classic “Shiracha” Limited Edition is limited to 3,000 pieces worldwide. Priced at £950 GBP (approx. $1,274 USD), the watch is now available for pre-order via the Seiko Boutique website.
