Unboxing the Chobani x Heron Preston Upcycled Shirts Crafted for USMNT Icons

National flag colors and past shirt fabrics stitched together tell the stories of Weston McKennie, Christian Pulisic, and Antonee Robinson.

Serving as a cornerstone of Chobani‘s nationwide “Feed the Dream” campaign, acclaimed fashion designer Heron Preston has crafted a collection of three bespoke, upcycled soccer shirts that function as wearable portraits for U.S. Men’s National Team stars Weston McKennie, Christian Pulisic, and Antonee Robinson. Rather than standard athletic wear, these garments are meticulously constructed from carefully chosen fabrics that physically map out each athlete’s life story. By weaving together elements inspired by childhood teams, family nods, the vibrant colors of national flags, and fabrics from their previous club kits, Preston has transformed these kits into living artifacts designed to honor the communities that supported these players along the way.

The custom shirts arrive encased in a sleek, industrial, metallic blue presentation box, where “Chobani x HERON PRESTON” is boldly embossed across the reflective surface. Securing the package is Preston’s signature heavy-duty orange utility strap, complete with a rugged tactical buckle and industrial product tags. The case is a striking design piece in its own right, providing an artful packaging for the sporty silhouettes inside.

Lifting the lid reveals a variety of textures, colors, and patterns laid out like fine art. There’s meticulous craftsmanship and brilliant storytelling embedded in every stitch. Traditional USA red-and-white soccer stripes sit alongside prominent green Chobani branding, framed by intricate mesh paneling, vibrant color blocks, and crisp polo collars. Flipping the garments over brings their personal histories center stage, where bold block lettering spells out “PULISIC,” “MCKENNIE,” and “ROBINSON” across mismatched segments of fabric. They range from tactical camouflage meshes to checkerboard patterns—complete with highly personal easter eggs, like printed birds, meant for the players to discover.

Preston leaned heavily into the emotional weight of the task, treating every design choice as an intentional tribute to the people and places that shaped these competitors. As McKennie, Pulisic, and Robinson step into the biggest moments of their international careers, they are quite literally carrying their support systems with them onto the global stage.
