Creative director Feng Chen Wang debuted her Spring Summer 2027 collection exploring cultural fluidity between East and West
The garments bridge the ancient Chinese Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove with Botticelli’s Renaissance masterpiece ‘Primavera’
The runway marked the official debut of an unprecedented Under Armour partnership, which the designer strictly frames as a partnership rather than a collaboration
Feng Chen Wang has officially unveiled her Spring/Summer 2027 collection, titled “Dreaming of Spring.” The new seasonal range serves as an expansive ode to creative liberation, establishing a poetic dialogue between Eastern and Western cultural history by seamlessly weaving together distinct literary and artistic dreamscapes.
The visual foundation of the collection relies on an organic convergence of two traditionally separate historical visions: the ancient Chinese scholars of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove and the classical deities of Sandro Botticelli’s Primavera. This duality is expressed through generous proportions, cascading folds, and liberated volumes that mirror traditional Chinese robes, contrasted against the fluid drapes of Western Renaissance art. Garments showcase an intentional, unfinished aesthetic characterized by raw edges, drifting loose threads, and softly unfurling ties. Sheer fabrics evoke a morning mist, while the color palette blends ink-like wash strokes with rich Western oil tones. Womenswear speaks to an independent identity, while the tailored menswear collection mimics the upright, quiet resilience of bamboo.
The runway presentation also served as the launchpad for a massive corporate milestone, as the designer unveiled an unprecedented partnership with athletic giant Under Armour. Evolving from an organic relationship that began earlier this year during her Fall/Winter 2026 showcase in Shanghai, this project brings a retro-futuristic edge to high-performance textiles.
Crucially, Wang made it a strict point to not call this project a traditional collaboration, insisting instead on defining it strictly as a long-term partnership. This distinction underscores a deep, hyper-creative dialogue intended to reinvent the design language of movement, utilizing signature flashes of Chinese red to seamlessly fuse athletic tech with high-end avant-garde design.
