The Nike Air Max Goadome Low is getting a more upscale look this fall with two croc-embossed leather colorways: one fully black and one in “Midnight Navy.” The Low is a sleeker, more streamlined take on its outdoor boot that keeps the rugged details underneath. These new pairs push that idea further by using a leather treatment normally associated with dress shoes.
The croc embossing is what sets these pairs apart. The pattern covers nearly the entire upper, but it isn’t uniform. The scale pattern gets bigger and heavier across the side panels and heel, then becomes tighter or smoother near the toe. That keeps the texture from looking flat. Perforations along the sides and collar add ventilation and break up the pattern.
The black pair stays tonal throughout. Its laces, stitching, and lining all match the upper. Small Swooshes near the heel blend into the leather, and the only branding with any depth is the ACG logo molded into the midsole. The “Midnight Navy” pair takes a different approach. Its navy laces and tongue match the upper, while a small metallic Swoosh on the lateral heel adds the only shine. Its black lining and sole contrast with the blue leather rather than blending in.
Both pairs sit on the same heavy-duty sole. A black midsole houses visible Air cushioning under the heel and forefoot, and a thick rubber outsole with deep lugs provides traction. Nike traces that visible Air back to 1987, when the Air Max line first showed its cushioning. The Goadome brings that technology to terrain it wasn’t originally built for.
The Goadome was first released as an ACG hiking boot in the late 1990s and has kept a loyal following since. The Low version shortens the collar while keeping the boot’s outdoor-ready construction.
These pairs are the latest in a fall run for the Goadome Low. The Taller De Rafa x Nike Air Max Goadome Low comes out September 25 in distressed brown leather and renewed interest in the low-top version. The two croc-embossed colorways arrive about two weeks later, trading that worn-in look for a cleaner, more polished one.
